I'm Zahid Rathore and I'm running for ANC 5B07
Who am I?
I've lived in Washington, DC for 22 years.
My two children attend John Burroughs Elementary School. Go Rams!
I'm passionate about the government working for us. I'm proud of what our city can do, but it shouldn't be so hard to get things done.
I'm an advocate for a safe and vibrant community.
My career has focused on bridging the healthcare divide through the use of technology.
I will bring this expertise to our community, and listen to all sides.
My thoughts on some of the important issues facing our community
Our neighborhood is a hidden gem in Washington, DC, where history and community come together. With tree-lined streets and diverse, welcoming neighbors, it’s a place where people look out for one another. Our neighborhood offers a unique balance of convenience and tranquility. Woodridge’s rich cultural diversity and strong community spirit make it a special place to live, grow, and connect which is why I'm proud to call it home.
We deserve to have a community where our children and seniors are safe and can thrive. We deserve to have a community where we have a flourishing core. We deserve to have a government that is responsive to our needs. It's for these reasons I'm running for ANC.
Here are my positions on some of the important issues facing our community
Public Safety: A Safer, More Connected Community
Push for Vision Zero investments for the safety of all roadway users
Prioritize safety for kids and seniors, fostering a peaceful, prosperous neighborhood.
Embrace a balanced approach to consider all road users’ needs
Housing and Development: Inclusive Revitalization
Advocate for more affordable housing, ensuring homes for all income levels.
Combat commercial blight on Rhode Island Avenue by encouraging new businesses and revitalizing vacant storefronts.
Fight for our community’s voice in the Office Of Planning’s upcoming Comprehensive Plan work
Environmental Sustainability and Climate Action: A Greener Future
Support road beautification and expanding our tree canopy for a greener neighborhood.
Push for sustainable projects that cut carbon emissions and enhance public spaces.
Promote tree planting, community gardens, and sustainable building practices.

How can you vote?
The DC Board of Elections has made easier for residents to vote.
You should receive your ballot by mail in early October.
You can check your address and verify your voter registration here.
Complete your ballot and drop it off at the Woodridge Library or by Mosely Park as early as October 13.
You can also drop it in a USPS mailbox.
If mail-in ballots aren't your thing, you can vote early at the Woodridge library - but of course, as a DC resident, you can vote at any early voting center.
Lastly, if you love Election Day vibes, by all means, vote on November 5 at the Woodridge Library, at John Burroughs Elementary, or at any voting election.
The DC Board of Election website has a ton of great information!
